Position Summary
The Moving Light and Network Technician is responsible for preparing, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting intelligent lighting fixtures and entertainment networking systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality and reliability of equipment sent out on rental, supporting the company’s reputation for excellence and dependability.
What You Will Be Doing:
Test, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on moving lights and LED fixtures (e.g., Robe, ETC, Martin, Clay Paky, Chauvet, Elation).
Configure and test entertainment networking systems, including DMX, Art-Net, sACN, and proprietary control protocols.
Perform software updates and firmware upgrades on fixtures and networking devices.
Utilize test consoles and software tools (e.g., GrandMA, ETC EOS, Pathway, Luminex, Net3 Concert) to verify system integrity.
Collaborate with the Operations and Rental Teams to ensure equipment is show-ready and meets customer specifications.
Document repairs, configurations, and maintenance logs in inventory or ticketing systems.
Assist in cable prep and control system builds as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Stay current on new technologies and best practices in lighting and entertainment networking.
Provide assistance in other departments as required.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For:
Two (2) plus years of experience working with intelligent lighting systems and entertainment networks in a production, rental, or systems integration environment.
Proficient in DMX, Art-Net, sACN, and common entertainment control systems.
Strong knowledge of moving light functionality and repair.
Familiarity with lighting control consoles and networking tools (e.g., MA, ETC, Pathway, Luminex).
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification a plus.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift 50 plus lbs. and work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Preferred Qualifications
ETCP Certification (Entertainment Electrician)
Experience with Vectorworks, Lightwright, or similar design/plotting software
Familiarity with rental inventory software (e.g., Rentalworks, Flex, IntelliEvent)
Basic soldering and electronics repair skills.
